TPS New Member Sessions

TPS New Member Sessions

The start of every new season at TPS is dedicated to helping new members deepen their understanding of photography so we can quickly get you taking and showing off some amazing pictures.

This year, in addition to our usual Thursday evening programme, TPS will be hosting a short programme of introductory sessions at the White Hart Barn for new members and beginners. If you’re looking to develop your photography or maybe simply master more of those confusing settings on your camera, this could be the fast-start you need!

There will be three New Member Sessions, all running from 8-10pm:

  • Monday 23rd SeptemberUnderstanding your Camera
Get to know which camera settings matter most, how to adjust them and what effect they have on your photos
  • Monday 21st OctoberIntroduction to Composition
Learn how to compose your pictures for greater impact, visual interest and”wow!”
  • Monday 11th NovemberMaking the Most of your Pictures
An introduction to editing, preparing files for printing, exhibition and competition entry and ways to share images with friends and family

Places at these sessions are strictly limited, with priority going to new members of TPS. The sessions will be free to attend, all part of the package that comes with TPS membership. Existing members will be able to take part if spaces are available. Keep in mind that these will be hands-on sessions, so bring along your camera or phone and get ready to master some powerful new photography techniques!

To register your interest: please email Jon Cowdock via secretary@tpsinfo.org.uk to add your name to the participant list. Don’t worry if you’re not yet a TPS member (here’s how to join) but please note you will need to hold full membership at the time of these special sessions.

Thanks to Dominic

At the end of each TPS Season our members vote for the person they feel has made the most stellar contribution to our club.

This year, the award went to Dominic Murtagh, our intrepid Out and About coordinator and cricket aficionado. Well done Dominic, you’ve been amazing this year, a brilliant innings¬†from an allrounder on a sticky wicket! (Howzat?!)

Dominic receives the magnificent glass Graham Phillips Trophy which was first presented to the club in 2005.

He’s very shy and so refused all publicity around this award. But, fear not, we’ve unearthed this candid portrait, care of Carole Mills’ roving camera:

Thanks to all our members who voted at the AGM and, above all, to Dominic for all his hard work supporting our club.

Roll on the new season!
