TPS will receive 50% of your ticket value, and you could win a top prize of £25,000!*
Tickets cost £1 and give you a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize. The word on the street is that we’ve already had a TPS winner (who is cloaked under the veil of anonymity, probably because they don’t want to have to spend their new fortune buying the post-TPS drinks on Thursday!)
So, go on, have a flutter! You’ll be helping TPS and other local good causes, and you might even win the jackpot 🙂
* Good news: you get to keep any prize money, tax-free. Mike, our Treasurer, would love you to donate it to TPS, but you really don’t have to. Good luck!
Our annual ‘Set Subjects’ competition, where members are invited to submit photos that match given topics, is always a highlight. This year our set subjects were “Curves” and “Be Creative”, both of which provided ample opportunity for some clever photographic expression. And our wonderful TPS members did not disappoint, with lots of fabulous images on display. In fact, we had so many submissions to the competition we had to limit entries to just two images per set subject for each member.
Our guest judge, David Eastley LRPS, had a tricky task picking out his winners but, after much deliberation, David chose Simon Bedwell’s wonderful “Dune” image as the best ‘Curves’ entry and “Creative Thinking” by Clare Pickett LRPS as the best ‘Be Creative’ image. Well done to you both, your prize cheque is in the post*!
Here are some of the judge’s favourite images from each set subject category. Congratulations once again if your image appears below:
* Not really, but Simon and Clare do win a rather smashing trophy, to be presented at our TPS Dinner!
We’re very sorry, but we’ve had to cancel tonight’s TPS meeting (March 1st) due to the freezing conditions. Stay warm at home and we’ll look forward to seeing you next Thursday. Or wrap up and go out to take some amazing photos. Whatever you do, stay safe.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: With regret, we have had to postpone the Alec Braid Panel Competitions on 22nd February, and hope to reschedule as soon as possible. TPS Members who have already entered PDI’s on the PhotoEntry website or others who intended to enter prints into the competition should hold on to your images for inclusion in the rescheduled competition.
Note: The Photo Entry system has been temporarily closed but we’ll let everyone know when it reopens. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this late change of plan.
Our very own Dr. John Nathan has kindly offered to step in with an illustrated talk on 22nd February 2018. More details to follow.
