Night Photography in Godstone

Nightfall in Godstone, by Allister Frost

A few bold TPS’ers ventured out into Godstone’s “incredible darkness” after our AGM to practise night photography.

It’s fair to say that Godstone isn’t exactly a bustling metropolis of activity at 9pm on a Thursday evening, and it wasn’t even very dark! But we still had opportunities to capture low light images, try out long exposures and even some light painting.

Going out with your camera after nightfall is a great way to remind yourself that there are buttons on your camera that you didn’t even know existed! I, for one, shall be practising more in the summer daylight so I can remember what to do next time I try night photography.

If you have any photos you’d like to share, please upload them to our ‘Out and About’ Flickr page at

On Thursday 30th May 2019 we’ll be hosting our Annual Dinner and Prize Giving in Limpsfield. We look forward to seeing many TPSers there and to raising a glass to another very successful year for our club.

And, with that, we’ll have completed our planned programme of events for the 2018-19 season. TPS will be taking a break over summer to recharge our (camera) batteries, but we’ll be back and raring to go in September!

During the summer recess, don’t forget to stay tuned to our list of Summer Activities and, of course, our Out and About page for occasional updates.

Enjoy summer!
