Competition Results – Colour Prints (round 2)

Last night saw the judging of Round 2 of our TPS Colour Prints competition. With 70 gorgeous prints to review, our judge David Eastley LRPS had his work cut out! Thanks to all our talented TPS members who took part.

The scores are now available to view on the competition page as well as the running scores in our league tables. It’s hotting up at the top but, as always, everything will come down to round 3 on 26th March!

There were nine perfect 10-point scores awarded yesterday. Fabulous work if you got one of those, keep up the great work!

But don’t switch off your printers just yet. Our next competition night is on 30th January, and it’s Mono Prints Round 2. Entries must be submitted to PhotoEntry by 11.59pm on Sunday 26th – don’t be late!

Next Thursday, 23 January, we’re excited to host a great guest speaker, James Burns. Join us for some sky high views of London. Full details here.

And finally, just for you, I’ve created image galleries of the highest scoring prints below. Enjoy…

Colour Prints Round 1 – The Results

Phew! Thursday evening saw the first round of our 2018-19 Colour Prints Competition and we had a record* number of entries. Judge Don Morley had the gargantuan task of scoring 85 prints, 44 within Club Class and 41 in Advanced. Thanks for your help Don, and thanks too to Barbara and Dominic for their hard work managing the competition and recording the scores.

OK, let’s cut to the chase! You can now access our Round 1 image scores here and, if you’re a competitive creature, you can see where you stand after only one round in the overall standings table here. As a sports pundit would say, it’s early days, there’s everything to play for, and it’s a game of three rounds (or should that be two halves?) Every member has two more chances to submit two images so competition is wide open! Now is the perfect time to get out snapping some great images for Round 2 on 10th January.

We really enjoyed seeing so many stunning images and we’re grateful for Don’s constructive critiques and suggestions. Most importantly, we hope you enjoyed the evening and picked up a few tip and ideas for your next photographic adventure.

Let’s take a look at some of the judge’s favourite images. Well done to everyone, especially the six members (JaneG, MikeB, RehanaU, GaryC, PeterV and SimonB) who scored perfect 10s. You clever snappers!

Bravo to everyone, great work! Our next competition is Natural History on 25th October.  The deadline for your PhotoEntry submissions will be Sunday 21st October.

* In the absence of a comprehensive archive of all previous TPS competitions, I made that up! But, you know, it’s probably a record, it certainly felt like one!

Colour Prints Competition Round 1

On Thursday 12th October we hosted Round 1 of our 2017-18 Colour Prints Competition. The hall was packed (we even ran out of chairs!) and we were delighted to see so many TPS members taking part in the competition. Many of our new members got into the game too, bravely mastering the tricky tasks of printing and mounting their photos to competition standards.

The quality of prints on display was superb and our guest judge, Rob Bonfield, really had his work cut out reviewing so many images and picking his favourites.

Congratulations to all our members for sharing their fabulous prints. You really are a talented bunch!

The full scores can be downloaded from here on our website.

Well done everyone! Coming up this week (19th Oct) we have a guest speaker, Andy Skillen, with his illustrated talk ‘Walking with Bears’.

And our next competition will be Natural History (prints & PDIs) on 26th Oct. Time to get snapping!
