TPS put on a solid performance at the SPA (Surrey Photographic Association) Open PDI Championship this month, scoring 168 points overall, an average of 10.5 points per image, and finishing 10th overall in a field of 25 clubs.
Well done to this year’s winning club, Richmond, with 181 points and an average mark of 11.31 points per image, and thanks to the expert judges Leo Rich, Ken Scott and Daphne Hansen.
Here’s are the full scores:
Thanks to all our clever TPS members whose pictures were selected for display at the competition. We’ve put together a mini album of your 16 fabulous photos below. Enjoy!
A big WELL DONE to our 44 TPS members who took part in Round 1 of our PDI (Projected Digital Images) Competition on 28th September. Our guest judge, Tim Morland ARPS, had a huge task reviewing and scoring all the entries and we’re very grateful for his expert analysis and advice.
As we’ve come to expect at TPS, the standard of images was very good and seven images were selected by Tim for the magical 10/10 treatment! A well-deserved mention for perfect scores goes out to Anthea Hearne-Dudman, Roger Matthews, Seb Springbett, Barbara Witherington, Sarah Bedwell, Colvin Hazzard and John Nathan.
But, as always, the most important thing on a competition night is that we enjoyed seeing a huge diversity of photographic styles and techniques and picked up some helpful tips and advice from our guest judge.
Our next competition night is just around the corner on 11th October, when we’ll be reviewing Round 1 of Colour Prints. For members, the deadline for PhotoEntry submissions is SUNDAY 7TH OCTOBER and, remember, you must bring your mounted prints to the White Hart Barn by 7.45pm on the competition night.
Next week we’ll meet in the hall behind the Godstone Baptist Church, right next to the Shell Service Station, with our guest speaker Drew Gibson sharing expert advice for Formula 1 and motorsport Photography.
And finally, in time-honoured fashion, here’s a selection of the judge’s favourite PDI Round 1 images, each of which scored 9 or more points. Well done to everyone!
We saw some wonderful images last night at our TPS PDI Competition (Round 1). There was a rich variety and it was especially exciting to see so many entries from our new members. Well done to everyone who took part!
Whether you agreed or disagreed with the judge is not important, what really matters is that you hopefully got some inspiration for your next photographic adventure and picked up a few tips on how do even better next time.
We’ll be featuring some of the photos on our Instagram and Facebook pages in future, but for now, here’s a reminder of the seven amazing pictures which all scored a perfect ’10’ from our guest judge Graham Johnston ARPS DPAGB. Maybe you’ll find inspiration in some of these:
